About m.andonìa

Designer Maria Argyropoulos draws inspiration from all over the world, scouring fabric mills in Europe and vintage stores in the U.S. to find just the right materials to convey her classic yet modern, sophisticated yet edgy, romantic yet rock 'n roll sense of style. She often embellishes the bags with Swarovski crystals and lamination. Maria's fashion know-how stems from her degree in graphic design from California State University and her graduate studies at the renowned Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy. After making herself a handbag fashioned from a vintage placemat, Maria received such rave reviews that she decided to start her own business creating the unique bags that make up the m.andonìa collection.

m.andonìa continues a proud tradition of respect for old world craftsmanship that began a lifetime and a continent away when Maria's family opened a leather goods factory in Athens, Greece in 1936. Today in Burbank, CA the hardworking m.andonìa staff dedicates the same meticulous care and heartfelt reverence for handcrafting and the highest standards of quality in every handbag they manufacture.

"I knew that if I was going to make it in this business, I was going to have to come up with something different and exciting," says Maria. "I don't follow trends; I have no interest in recreating what is already being done. What I do have an interest in is creating works of art, and that is what my strong design experience has allowed me to do with each piece in my collection."
